From the National
President --
To All Auxiliary Members:
In some parts of the country, you are still
snowed in, and for others the azaleas are in bloom. But wherever you
are the promise of spring is here, even if cold snaps freeze new
buds on the trees.I am just returning from a “whirlwind"
tour of the South East
Region, and southern hospitality is still very much present. I was
able to visit with 10 Units ranging in the north, Unit 89, Atlanta,
to Sanford, Unit 147 and the South East Regional Mid-Year meeting. I
traveled with Carolyn Whitaker, RPSE and her husband Tom, as
chauffer as we made official visits. Carolyn put together a
wonderful schedule and our members certainly threw out the welcome
mat. It was especially gratifying to be a part of all the meetings
and to, once again, see our Auxiliary in action. There is some
wonderful work going on and I am so very proud to be a part of it.
Thanks to Carolyn for hosting me in her home and having everything
so organized on the road. Thank you South East Region for making me
feel so much a part of you.
Welfare – some of the synonyms are well-being, benefit and
happiness. And that is what our Welfare and Rehabilitation fund is
all about. To assist our members in distress. To provide a benefit
in a time of need, not only for large national disasters, but for
that emergency that can occur such as death or fire. The methodology
for obtaining funds is: a member learns of a need and gathers the
details – they contact their Unit President with these details, who
then in turn contacts the Regional President. The Regional President
contacts the National President, and deeming it worthy, authorizes
the funds. This is all performed as rapidly as possible so that we
can meet the individual’s needs. This fund can only grow through
your generous donations. Please help us.
I hope to see many more of you as I travel. In closing, I send
sincere sympathy to those who have lost a loved one, get well wishes
for those who are ill, and best wishes for those celebrating
Birthdays, Anniversaries and other great life events. You must
cherish each moment and each other. Units are made up of Ones’ and
it is the Ones’ that make up the Auxiliary. Thank you for being that
One.
With warmest regards, I remain
In Loyalty, Protection & Service
Gail Doloway, National President

A sample would be;

Whereas, it would be proper for the women to choice a color they
feel more comfortable; therefore be it

color that will make them comfortable.

Regional Presidents Messages:
To all Auxiliary Members,
I would like to thank all the people I met at National for making my
first National Convention so much fun. I really appreciate all the
advice and offers of help for the future.
We had a wonderful time visiting the Unit and Branch 382 and
celebrating their 25th anniversary with a Christmas dinner. We are
looking forward to visiting the other Units and Branches in the
region throughout the year.
The Regional Convention dates are set for September 5, 6 and 7th
2008 at Branch 174 in Squim, WA.
Yours in Loyalty, Protection & Service
RPNW Roni Gilmore
Happy Spring from the East Coast Region!
All of our Units are working very hard. So far, they have filled
book bags, provided "cheer baskets" for an AIDS patient, given
underwear, socks, t-shirts and a food gift certificate to a
VETSHOUSE, furnished gloves, hats, books and fast food gift cards to
needy children, played BINGO and served refreshments at VA
Hospitals, sent cards to the military and much more. When you see
how much a small gift can change a person's life, you want to do
more.
We had a great Mid Year Meeting in Carolina Beach, NC in January.
The
weather was cold, but the meetings were very informative.
We are looking forward to having National President Gail in the East
Coast Region in April. We have a Luncheon planned at Unit 60, Ocean
View and there will be ceremonies at the Mast of the Maine and Tomb
of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery
It is an honor to serve the Ladies Auxiliary of the FRA.
In Loyalty, Protection and Service,
Mary Lou McKinley
Dear Ladies:

The honor of representing you in the Southwest Region
is a busy responsibility and all Presidents are working hard to
fulfill them.
We're especially interested in having information on what project
each Unit is working on - i.e., Americanism, Youth, etc. Some are
saving aluminum can tabs, or personal items for the VA Hospitals.
These ideas will be passed on to all of you.
One wonderful duty I had was participating in the USS ARIZONA
Memorial Service the first Sunday in December in Tucson, AZ. I read
the Voice From The ARIZONA, written by Jacl F. Langham, USN (Ret),
Deceased. A short portion follows:
'We receive your prayers and tributes
We hear you toll our bell;
We thank you for your reverence,
Much more than words can tell.
If we could ask one thing of you,
Our sole request would be;
Do everything within your power
To keep our nation strong and free.'
NOTE: The University of Arizona was approved as the repository for
one of the ARIZONA's bells. It is tolled each December in honor of
the eight from this state who are still entombed on the sunken ship.
They paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
Try to attend this moving ceremony.
Yours in Loyalty, Protection and Service,
Darlene Slaughter, RPSW

LA FRA MEMBERSHIP
From the Desk of Membership Chairman Georgia
The Membership team is made up of every Unit Vice
President, every Regional Vice President and me. We must work together not only
to keep our membership growing but to help those units who are in need of our
help.
We had five new units reported at the National
Convention - Congratulations to those new units, but unfortunately we also lost
five units. Please help me keep what we have.
Awards are already given for Increases and most
members, but I would like to reward those Units who have the most
reinstatements and those Units who have the least suspensions. I must
quote my predecessor - - "Keep what we have and get back what we have lost."
